    ECDI’s commercial kitchen now open

The Economic and Community Development Institute recently hosted a grand opening celebration for its new commercial kitchen.

Located within The Food Fort at 1655 Old Leonard Rd. in Columbus, the commercial kitchen was created with the small business culinary startup in mind, as it allows companies to prepare their products in an affordable environment that meets all the local health department’s safety requirements.

The kitchen’s mini anchors use the space for at least 10 hours a week and sign a six-month lease. Rates are $2 an hour less than standard rental rates, according to ECDI.

In addition to 24-hour access to the kitchen, renters can take advantage of dry store space and walk-in cooler space, free food safety training, and focus groups that can provide feedback on new products.

The kitchen spans about 1,400 square feet, and was completed in July after 12 months of planning and construction.

Those interested in renting kitchen space should contact Bob Kramer at 614-559-0115 or by email at [email protected].
