2021 marked a major milestone for Freedom a la Cart with the long-anticipated opening of its new cafe and survivor center Downtown.
Initially announced in late 2019, the project hit coronavirus-related delays before finally coming to life this past spring at 123 E. Spring St.
Freedom a la Cart Bakery & Cafe serves up a delectable menu of lunch and breakfast dishes, along with house-made pastries, but more than a meal, the new space allows the social enterprise to support more survivors of human trafficking.
The cafe provides additional employment opportunities for the individuals that Freedom a la Cart works with, but the building also houses the organization’s Freedom Center which provides meeting rooms, workstations, lounge areas and more where survivors can find support and programming.
