Columbus Chamber cbuzz: Mikey Sorboro of Late Night Slice

What do pedicabs, pizzas, bars and diapers all have in common? They are all entrepreneurial ventures of Mikey Sorboro who has been putting the Mikey in Mikey’s Late Night Slice for nearly six years.

Sorboro’s Columbus pizza empire now includes three trucks, seven locations and soon, a full-service sit-down restaurant that will hopefully be the catalyst for LNS outside of the city. Best known for his pies (and a certain sauce, but more on that later), Sorboro’s entrepreneurial ventures actually started with pedicabs.

Sorboro had been out west in Las Vegas and a San Diego vacation introduced him to the giant (essentially) tricycles perfect for those distances inbetween let’s walk and call a cab. As for why he brought them to Columbus?

With family and friends nearby, “Columbus always brought me back,” he says. “Columbus, I think, has always been, and still is, a really ripe city for ideas and projects. The cool thing that I love about Columbus is that it’s not saturated with really anything yet.”

During his podcast, Sorboro talks adventures in pizza making, starting a food truck before it was a “thing,” mentions a little bar he owns called Oddfellows and clears the air about a certain sauce that’s become rather infamous. Tongue-in-cheek humor and the often sassy nature LNS aside, a big part of the pizza joint’s mission is to support the community – which Sorboro also addresses through the relatively newly formed Diaper Bank.
