Club Level Coworking Coming to Gay Street this Summer

Two new coworking spaces are bringing even more collaborative energy to Gay Street. Commercial real estate development firm E.V. Bishoff is expanding its Downtown Columbus footprint with Club Level Coworking. (Stay tuned tomorrow for details on the second space!)

Club Level Coworking will offer 4,000 square feet of coworking space with month-to-month memberships at 35 E. Gay St. in the Historic Commerce Building.

There is a vibrancy to Downtown that we think lends itself to this type of coworking environment,” says E.V. Bishoff Company President David Bishoff.

The walkability, nearby transportation options, on-street metered parking and abundance of restaurants and watering holes in the area make it a prime location for the 24/7 space.

Coworking represents a new venture for the real estate portfolio operator that buys buildings with the purpose of holding on to them for generations. In an industry that historically flips ownership every three to five years, many building managers don’t always have to examine how people use their office space, but E.V. Bishoff’s interest in down the line has them studying industry trends.

Bishoff says they have been watching for many years to see if coworking would fall under fad, but, “As we studied it, it became very clear a portion of the working population is electing to operate their business out of a coworking environment that involves more of a membership model than a leasing model.”

Bishoff knows the coworking model isn’t for everyone, and the company offers other solutions for businesses and individuals not interested in a shared space, but recognizes these open offices will continue make up a growing percentage of work environments.

Club Level Coworking will offer two membership options – CoWorking Unlimited for $350.00 per month and Dedicated Office for $550 per month. Here is how the two plans compare:

Still in the buildout phase, Bishoff says the coworking space will house between 30 and 50 occupants with five to seven dedicated offices that could potentially fit a few team members, with the rest working from a large, shared space. Additional amenities include perks like free coffee, fruit and juice, personal lockers, and copy/print services.

Bishoff says they will let the tenant mix evolve naturally. He has already been surprised that the interest they are seeing is not just from freelancers or millennials, but, “We have not yet seen that is is predominately any one industry, any one type of person, any one age type,” Bishoff says.

Columbus is one of three locations where E.V. Bishoff will introduce Club Level Coworking. Cleveland and Pittsburgh will join the lineup, and, “Once a member of one location, you are a member at all locations,” Bishoff says.

E.V. Bishoff will soon be accepting applications for Columbus’ Club Level Coworking which is aiming for a June opening.
