COhatch Announces Sixth Location Coming to Springfield

COhatch coworking and community centers are being announced left and right, with the latest residing in a historic building in Springfield, Ohio.

COhatch is partnering with SpringFORWARD, a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization created to revitalize downtown Springfield developments, for the restoration of the former 100-year-old Myer’s Marketing building. SpringFORWARD purchased the property in early 2018 from the City of Springfield.

Over the next year, the COhatch and SpringFORWARD collaboration will “breath new life” into the soon-to-be-renovated building and surrounding area. In the works are a year-round artisan’s marketplace, food hall, shared kitchen, and coworking, lifestyle and event spaces for local entrepreneurs, businesses and individuals. The complete redo will cost an estimated $1.75 million.

Plans for the renovation are set to emulate a modern-day version of the original market, once home to merchants, farmers and local artisans of the early 1900s. The shared kitchen will offer modern equipment and a shared cost model, while the new food hall will the be a key setting for local farmers, eateries, caterers, restaurateurs, experiential dinners, and visitors.

“It is exciting for the people of Springfield to see a new and unique use for our City Market that honors the history of the structure while creating a supportive environment for the development of new and existing businesses,” said Springfield Mayor Warren Copeland. “We can’t wait for the opening of COhatch Market. We are confident it will be a game changer for Springfield.”

“We are taking our mission a step further by connecting communities,” said Matt Davis, founder of COhatch. “Springfield residents can have it all by living and working in their own community, and investing their time and effort where it counts the most to them.”

COhatch Market will initially offer approximately 12,000 square feet of private offices, dedicated desks, game areas, coworking spaces, meeting and conference rooms, and indoor and outdoor event spaces. Members will also have access to amenities like WiFi, fax and mail services.

COhatch currently has two locations in Worthington, with three under construction. The Delaware location “The Newsstand” will open this fall, while the Upper Arlington location “The Overlook” and Polaris location “The Pub” will open this winter. COhatch plans to open more than 12 locations in Central Ohio within the next five years. Springfield is their first location outside of Central Ohio.
