Columbus 2020 has hired a former Fahlgren Mortine account supervisor to lead its marketing efforts.
Irene Alvarez will oversee Columbus 2020’s advertising, public relations, website and social media efforts.
“Irene brings extensive marketing and branding experience to Columbus 2020,” said Kenny McDonald. “She is uniquely positioned to tell our story, given her work with the Columbus Region in her previous position. Irene is an incredibly talented marketer, and we are thrilled to have her join the team.”
At Fahlgren Mortine, Alvarez executed strategic marketing and communications plans on behalf of several clients, including Columbus 2020, the city of Columbus, 200Columbus, the Columbus Chamber, Experience Columbus, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, and The Columbus Dispatch. Prior to that, Alvarez was a marketing project manager at Experience Columbus.
Alvarez said she is thrilled to join the Columbus 2020 team.
“This is a remarkable time for the Columbus region– many success stories are happening here, and so many more lie ahead,” she continued. “We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to share with the world. I’m honored to do my part.”
Alvarez is on the boards of Available Light Theatre and Dine Originals Columbus. She lends her marketing expertise to those organizations and also volunteers with Camp Sunrise, a summer camp program developed specifically for children affected by HIV/AIDS. She has a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University.
