Columbus-based venture capital firm makes first investments

Columbus-based venture capital firm, Drive Capital has made their first two investments. Owners Mark Kvamme and Chris Olsen are committed to serving businesses in the Midwest and have chosen ventures based in Cincinnati and Columbus as their first projects.

drive-capital-logoCincinnati-based Roadtrippers is a web-based company that helps travelers map their routes on roadtrips. Users enter their starting and ending locations, then use custom filters to search for a seemingly endless amount of things to do along the way. The site provides options for accommodations, events and attractions, shopping, dining, sports, nature sites and historical landmarks, and can even recommend scenic routes. Entering your route also automatically provides data like estimated time and cost of gas.

Columbus-based CrossChx provides patient identification securities for healthcare providers. Patients are linked to their fingerprints, eliminating medical identity fraud and ensuring the right patient gets the right care.

Kvamme and Olsen had experience with other venture capital firms before founding Drive Capital in late 2012. The founders see enormous potential in the Midwest market and plan to focus on the IT, financial services, consumer and healthcare service industries. Olsen and Kvamme say the world-class companies they are seeing in the area rival those found in any other place in the world.
