March sees a surge in business-based crowdfunding campaigns in Columbus. BrewDog has something quite unique in store for Central Ohio, photography gets a social enterprise spin, a new dating app emerges, and goodbye pit stains! Read up on the latest lot:
Social enterprise and photography collide at Commons Studio, which is turning to crowdfunding to drum up awareness for its Shot for Shot program. The goal is to book 100 professional portraits for paying clients in order to give 100 professional portraits to beneficiaries of career development nonprofits. It’s time for the full-services studio to “flip on the open sign” so funds will also help carry Commons Studio through launch.
Nobody likes a pit stain. A little extra sweat is a problem that’s led to many a lowered arm, and when deodorant fails to deliver, Sweat Seal is ready to help. The flexible pad boasts eight hours of odor neutralizing, super absorbent protection. And to answer the question you’re thinking of – a special gentle-removal adhesive prevents a constant pit-waxing situation. Sweat Seal is ready to protect and funds will support the first production run.
A hotel in the middle of a sour beer facility or a sour beer facility in the middle of a hotel? Whichever way your pour it, BrewDog is ready to attach the world’s first craft beer hotel to its first U.S. brewing facility in Columbu…err Canal Winchester. The DogHouse will feature beer-themed rooms, a beer jacuzzi, shower beer fridges, beer-themed spa treatments and more! BrewDog already owns the land for the hotel, and is raising a chunk of change to speed up the timeline.
There’s no shortage of dating apps, but VENUE is ready to shake things up. The goal: real people on real dates. The app curates a list of events, the dater picks an outing they are interested in, matches with others that are too and boom – the ‘Does this time work for you? No? This time instead?’ conversation is eliminated. VENUE turned to crowdfunding for dollars to continue development and get feedback to shape the app.
Two mid-February campaigns from a news roundup are still rolling. Multivarious Games is developing their next original release, No Mercy, and a new storage solution for guitar strings called the String Stash continues its climb for cash.
