Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and there are many ways you can incorporate this holiday into your sales and marketing efforts, such as offering special discounts or decorating your storefront. But you may also want to consider finding a way to spread the love back to the community that supports your business. Take the time this Valentine’s Day to support a local cause or volunteer for a community fundraiser. Here are three steps to spreading the love this February:

    1. Find your passion: As a small business owner, you may feel that you don’t even have an extra minute to spare beyond running your business, but if you find a cause or fundraiser that speaks to your passions, you’re more likely to make the time to volunteer. Find a cause that allows you to use and improve your strengths and those of your team.

    2. Get your team involved: Volunteering at a local shelter or running a fundraiser will be more fun and have a greater impact if you get your entire team involved. Get your team excited about volunteering and if possible, let them do so during business hours. The time spent will be a great team-building experience, and they’ll appreciate the opportunity to get involved with their community.

    3. Spread the word: You care about your community and there’s no shame is sharing that! Let people know how much you care by spreading the word about your good deeds. Send out a press release and post photos of your team volunteering on your social media pages. Don’t forget to tag the organization you’re assisting so that their cause receives some publicity as well.
