    Basecraft Offers Creative Brand Experiences

Downtown Columbus is home to a new creative design firm for brands. Basecraft is a one-stop shop for all of a brand’s needs, encompassing everything from interior office design to website design. Founder Chris Hamrick wants to help brands perfect their presence by focusing on their customers and defining what matters.

Hamrick has long been interested in web design. During the days of AOL, he taught himself HTML and started his first company when he was only 15. From there he attended the University of Akron for Advertising and started his second company, Hamrick Creative, during his senior year of college. He established himself in the market by working with small business and retail shops in Short North. After five years, he sold the company and joined CareWorks Technologies. But, this January Hamrick decided it was time for a new venture.

No stranger to entrepreneurship, Hamrick founded Basecraft to help business owners in Columbus solve their branding problems. He is driven by his love of coming up with better ways to solve problems.

“Columbus was missing a highly creative and strategic design firm for brands,” he said. Basecraft’s downtown studio, known as the Basecraft Sky Studio to its employees, is a strategic part of their own brand.

“I love this city and how accessible it is for anyone who wants to start a business,” Hamrick said. “There are great brands here; it’s an ideal place to start a creative firm. Downtown provides infinite amounts of great inspiration.”

Basecraft is a creative shop that designs experiences for brands. Hamrick describes it as anything customers will interact with, they will design. Their arsenal includes design options for branding, logos, signature identification pieces, packaging, interior spaces and websites.

The firm works with companies of all sizes to help them figure out who their customers are. From there, they can help explore, develop and design what the brand stands for. Basecraft helps a company ensure that everything they put their name on is done so purposefully to create impact. Asking questions like, “does this really reflect you?” keeps clients on-track and away from unnecessary efforts.

As an all-in-one shop, Basecraft designs everything, down to the last detail. Keeping everything in-house means the brand essence is seamlessly carried from piece to piece. Their mission is simply to make their client’s brands amazing.

A well-defined brand is a cornerstone for any company, but Hamrick finds their services have a huge impact on startups, who make up a majority of their clients. Investing in total brand services can put a startup a step above when it’s most crucial.

Growing quickly, Basecraft has expanded from one to eight employees since the beginning of the year with hopes to hire more creatives by the end of the year. They have gained experience working with clients such as The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Homage, Peak Property Group, CHARRG and Hayo.
