    LaineGabriel

LaineGabriel debuted its program, The Tenfold Initiative, this summer. Lisa Laine Miller and James Gabriel Brown, principals at LaineGabriel, created the initiative to repay the generosity shown by teachers and pay it forward to inspire the next generation.

One component of The Tenfold Initiative is a $1,500 scholarship. This year’s winner is Emma Pennington, a recent Hilliard Bradley graduate. She will use the scholarship to continue her education at the Columbus College of Art & Design, where she plans to major in animation.

“I am both thrilled and honored,” she says. “My dream of becoming an animator/illustrator is a step closer to becoming a reality.”

A $150 classroom gift card will also be awarded to Pennington’s high school art teacher, Katie Owens. In addition to the scholarship opportunity, LaineGabriel also plans to inspire artists of all ages through mentoring programs and free art courses.

    Candle with a Cause

When we last spoke with Candle with a Cause, the company was partnering with Pelotonia for the summer edition of its candle. Twenty-five percent of each candle purchased supported the cancer fighting organization. Under the partnership, Candle with a Cause hosted a bike ride through downtown. A few of the company founders also rode in Peletonia.

This fall, Candle with a Cause will be supporting Flying Horse Farms, a new summer camp for children with disabilities. The candle will have a pumpkin spice scent and will retail at various shops in Columbus, mainly in the Short North and Clintonville areas.
