Pecha Kucha Under the Stars at Junctionview Studios

The Columbus summer edition of Pecha Kucha takes place on Aug. 12, outdoors at Junctionview Studios. If you’re unfamiliar with the format, Pecha Kucha is a visual slideshow presentation where artists, creatives and entrepreneurs present 20 slides on a topic, displaying each slide for only 20 seconds.

TheMetropreneur.com will be the focus of one presentation, provided my myself. Additional small business-themed presentations include:

  • The Small Business Beanstalk (by Charles Erickson) – A small business networking and community growth company.
  • YourMilton.com (by Eric Ralph) – A locally produced web-based application to assist small businesses with contact, project and financial management.
  • Blostein/Overly Architects (by Beth Blostein and Bart Overly) – A small design firm whose portfolio includes entrepreneurial live/work space in Franklinton.
  • Designer Mara Marcom – Fashion entrepreneur who creates purses and accessories utilizing recycled and reclaimed materials.

Additional presenters include artist/educator Sarah Grosh, visual artist John Humphries, meditation expert Daron Larson, cartoonist Talcott Starr, Nick Wolak with the Thompson Football Club, and photographer Rainer Ziehm.

Local band Shin Tower Music will kick-start the festivities at 8 p.m., and the presentations will begin at 8:30 p.m. A brief intermission includes work performed by Super Collider Theater, and a visual artwork display organized by the Couchfire Collective will also be present throughout the evening.

Mobile food carts by Rad Dog Veg, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, and Pattycake Bakery will be on hand to sell food and drinks, while guests who are age 21 or older are permitted to bring their own beer.

The entry fee is a suggested donation of $2 per person, but higher donations are also welcomed. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

Junctionview Studios is located at 889 Williams Ave. in Grandview Heights. Free street parking can be found surrounding the building. A map of the location can be found here.
