UBI Index analyzed a specialized range of variable factors and eco-systems to compile the Top 10 list. The comprehensive framework measures incubator performance by looking at job creation, talent retention, the value of the client base, access to funds, entrepreneurial skills development, and post-incubation performance. UBI Index assessed 800 incubators and benchmarked 300 of those to achieve the rankings. Top10medallion

“TechColumbus is one of the top business incubators in the world,” says Dhruv Bhatli, co-founder of UBI Index and leading author and researcher on entrepreneurship performance. “It runs an exceptional incubation program providing value to its clients who have a higher survival and growth rate than the global average.”

In 2013, TechColumbus portfolio companies had 770 full-time employees. The companies that the accelerator assisted directly produced more than $100 million in revenue.

“We are excited to be recognized among so many distinguished incubators and accelerators,” says Tom Walker,TechColumbus president and CEO. “We take startup creation and their impact very seriously; it’s the true measure of our success.”

TechColumbus performed especially well on economy enhancement indicators.

“This signifies that TechColumbus clients make a significant economic impact on the region by creating a high number of jobs,” Bhatli says.

“Our venture acceleration model works,” Walker says. “We leverage a very experienced venture team and a $20+ million continuum of early-stage capital, along with our SpringBox Labs accelerator, strategic partnerships, and initiatives that connect our clients to expert services and real paying customers to expand Central Ohio’s innovation economy.”

Incubators from the United States claimed four of the 10 spots. Receiving top honors is another from Ohio – the Youngstown Business Incubator.
