WeWork Headed for New Development in Short North

A ‘coming soon’ listing on WeWork’s website was the initial indication the coworking giant was headed for Columbus, but until today the exact location has been under wraps. WeWork has signed a lease for the entirety of the office space of the mixed-used development at 800 N. High St.

WeWork’s first Columbus location will span floors three, four and five totaling more than 46,000 square feet, making it the largest coworking space in Columbus.

“WeWork is the perfect addition to the Columbus market and an ideal fit at the 800 North High development,” says Brent Crawford, principal at Crawford Hoying, the owner and developer on the project. “When looking to fill the office space, we were searching for an industry titan that would further Columbus’s rapid employment growth – and we found just that with WeWork.”

WeWork’s flexible office space provides solutions for solopreneurs and small businesses, to high-growth startups to Fortune 500 companies. Other offices in WeWork’s global network of nearly 500 locations include membership options like hot desks – grab your laptop, pick a spot and get to work, dedicated desks – your own desk in a shared office, and private offices for teams of all sizes.

WeWork will be the sole office tenant in the building. The first floor will see the expansion of Cleveland-based restaurant Townhall, as well as a new concept from the same restaurant group in a 5,000 square foot rooftop space. Both are scheduled to open in September. A 116-room Marriott Moxy Hotel will occupy floors six through nine and will operate an amenity area for guests on the second floor. The hotel is on track for an October opening.

WeWork joins the thousands of square feet of coworking space recently added and coming soon to the Short North through a number of other high-profile companies in the industry. IWG plc’s Spaces opened its 36,000 square foot coworking space on floors four, five and six of 711 N. High St. earlier this month. Industrious is tripling its presence in the neighborhood with a 30,000 square feet second location at The Offices at The Sutton at 875 N. High St. In August of 2018, Serendipity Labs opened its second Columbus location with 21,000 square feet of coworking space on the third and fourth floors of the UDF building at 886 N. High St.

WeWork in the Short North is aiming for a late 2019 opening. For more information, click here.
