The Innovation Awards celebrate and honor individuals and teams for outstanding achievements in business leadership and innovation in numerous industries, including energy, financial services, retail, insurance, and health care.

The Innovation Awards has become the premier event for the Central Ohio innovation community, says Tim Haynes, vice president of TechColumbus, adding that this year the organization has emphasized the breadth of innovation across all industries and streamlined the nomination process to maximize participation.

People have the opportunity to nominate themselves, a company, a client, a co-worker, a competitor, a vendor, or a mentor in 13 categories.

Company award categories include Outstanding Startup Business; Outstanding Product (company with fewer than 250 employees); Outstanding Product (company with more than 250 employees); and Green Innovation.

Other company awards include Outstanding Service (company with fewer than 250 employees); Outstanding Service (company with more than 250 employees); Outstanding Technology Team; Innovation in Non-Profit Service Delivery; and Corporate Innovator of the Year   (company with more than 5,000 employees).

Individual award categories include Executive of the Year (company with fewer than 250 employees); Executive of the Year (company with more than 250 employees); Outstanding Woman in Technology; and Inventor of the Year.

Once nominations have been submitted and verified, nominees will be contacted and asked to submit information about their innovation. All complete nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges and scored for each award category within 14 days of submission.

The top three award finalists and the award winner will be announced at the 2011 Innovation Awards on Feb. 2, 2012 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center’s Battelle Hall.
