Columbus-based venture Capital Firm Drive Capital is headed to a new space in the Short North. The firm will occupy 11,000 square feet of the newly constructed Joseph office building.
The new space will be about double the square footage of Drive Capital’s current Arena District office.
“We basically doubled our size so we could help our companies grow,” said Co-Founder Mark Kvamme. “We work very closely with our companies and it’s very time efficient to have them in their formative stages in the office.”
Drive Capital is incubating two other companies in their space and will soon be adding a third. Serving as an incubation space, companies may come and go, but Kvamme wanted space to land new businesses. Currently they have no specific expansion plans, but are actively looking at additional companies to work with.
Kvamme says the firm is excited for the move and the Short North location. “Obviously we really like the vibrancy and what’s going on in Short North,” he says. The restaurants, amenities and activities in the area were a big draw.
“The Short North is as dynamic and vibrant as anywhere in the country – it reminds me a lot of San Francisco,” says Ned Schwartz of Drive Capital. “For entrepreneurs who eat, sleep and breathe their business, the Short North has it all, and there’s no better place to base your business. We’re excited to move to The Joseph later this year, and even more excited to share it with the entrepreneurs we partner with.
Occupying the entire sixth floor, the office will have an open layout with great views of downtown, Goodale Park and happenings on High Street. Kvamme expects the move early next year.
