Jason Johnson is Director of the Small Business Network at Next Street. In this role, Jason works to increase coordination within local, regional, and national small business ecosystems and efficiently mobilize the social, financial, and knowledge capital within these networks to support small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Jessica Cohen currently leads Verizon’s philanthropy and community engagement efforts in Ohio. Before joining Verizon, she worked in the nonprofit and public sectors, serving on the staff of U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and later in institutional advancement and government advocacy roles for Cleveland-based nonprofits. During her tenure at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, Jessica became a recognized leader in external affairs and community relations, later serving as Vice President of External Affairs for a Cleveland-based non-profit technology start-up.

Karleen Porcena is the National Senior Economic Development Officer at LISC (Local Initiative Support Corporation) overseeing a body of work that includes increasing the capacity of organizations that work directly with small businesses as well as developing key tools and resources that allow entrepreneurs to grow. Karleen holds her Master’s in Business Administration from Babson College in Wellesley, MA and a double bachelor degree in Comparative Politics and Spanish from Clark University in Worcester, MA.

The Economic & Community Development Institute’s Women’s Business Centers of Ohio guide individuals at any stage of the business process. Through one-on-one counseling sessions with WBC staff and volunteers, you can get the direction and resources to meet your goals. Business advisers want to help you successfully start a business, or grow and expand your existing business — increasing revenue and creating jobs for the local economy.

The WBCs present training workshops regularly to provide access to small business knowledge at no charge. They are the only SBA-funded Women’s Business Centers in the state.
