The creators of SunDown RunDown are bringing a new event series to the local entrepreneurial community – Lunch & Launch. The educational workshops are presented in partnership with Inc@8000 in New Albany and will take place at the incubator the last Thursday of the month from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm.
“The idea around these workshops specifically is to bring in industry experts,” says Paul Proffitt, one of the event’s organizers. Speakers will cover traditional and non-traditional topics that shape an entrepreneur, beyond the typical nuts and bolts of how to build a business. Attendees can expect to hear about topics like innovative thinking, creativity, or the inaugural lunch’s focus – making a pitch work for you.
Leaning what not to do can be just as important as learning what to do, and that’s how Lunch & Launch will approach pitches.
“We’re giving them some ways to think about constructing their business plan, constructing their pitch with what not to do,” Proffitt says. Investors that have sat through them and pitchers that have missed the mark will share their thoughts on the topic.
The first event will take place on Thursday, February 27. Registration is $9.99 and will get participants a lunch from FreshBox Catering and ample networking opportunities. Reservations are accepted through Tuesday, February 25.
Proffitt calls the new event series, “An extension of what the core mission of the organization is.” That mission is to bring the entrepreneurial community together. Lunch & Launch and SunDown RunDown strive to be community resources that provide entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge base to build a business. Proffitt also hopes to keep the casual, community vibe across events.
“We’re all in this together, let’s help each other,” he says.
