First Look: COhatch Upper Arlington – The Overlook

COhatch’s largest location yet is now open in Upper Arlington at 1733 W. Lane Ave. The 10,800 square foot coworking space spans two floors and transformed a long-vacant second floor space at the west end of the Shops on Lane Avenue.

COhatch brings much-needed event and community space to Upper Arlington, according to investor and neighborhood resident Chris Watkins. Watkins first connected with COhatch CEO & Co-Founder Matt Davis after the group opened its first location in Worthington.

Creating a coworking space was a vision Watkins had held for some time and found alignment in COhatch’s community-driven mission.

“Knowing what a community-driven community [Upper Arlington] is we thought we could do a lot more with the whole community aspect in a way…and really take it to the next level here,” Watkins says. “UA has such a strong ecosystem that’s already in place, but very few spaces where people can meet; very few spaces where people can do events.”

The new space now has ample square footage where people can gather for events and meetings both personal and professional. COhatch sought input from the UA community to help shape the design of the new space. The office houses five meeting rooms (including one with bear murals, a nod to the school system’s mascot), as well as the Look Out room.

The Look Out serves as coworking and event space accommodating 60-70

The Look Out serves two purposes. Daily, it’s open coworking space for members, but it can also accommodate meetings and events of 60-70 people. It’s the largest event space across COhatch’s portfolio.

“We want our spaces to kind of be the well-known center of gravity for communities,” Davis says.

Upper Arlington is embracing the concept of community space and coworking. Of the 30 private offices included in the build out, 25 are taken. There’s still space for more businesses, tough, with dedicated desks and ample open coworking areas.

Membership at COhatch Upper Arlington includes a standard set of business amenities – wifi, fax/mail services, guest reception – as well as access to all of COhatch’s resources and space at any of its locations.

COhatch currently has two locations in Worthington, and opened locations in Delaware and at Polaris earlier this year. The company is also working on locations at Easton and in Dublin and recently announced its first out-of-state expansion to Indianapolis with plans to open 10 locations in the area in the next five years.
