Columbus businesses are making headlines this holiday season! COhatch brings coworking to Polaris. Two local business owners are getting national recognition for their inventions. Another is on the move and two more are expanding their offerings! Keep reading for details on each!
Coworking Meets Mall with The Hub at Polaris
Ahead of the grand opening of its “The Pub” location, coworking community COhatch introduces The Hub – a retail and coworking space located in the center of Polaris Fashion Place.
Measuring just over 500 square feet, The Hub offers COhatch members the opportunity to host meetings or workshops and events open to the public. Members of its Madery maker space can also exhibit and sell their goods from the The Hub as a part of their membership.
“What we are doing at Polaris Fashion Place is something innovative and fresh that offers our members new and exciting ways to connect with customers, partners and employees all while getting incredible exposure,” says COhatch Founder Matt Davis.
In January COhatch open its 7,000 square foot The Pub location at 1554 Polaris Pkwy., which will serve as coworking space by day and bar and entertainment venue by night.

Two Columbus Entrepreneurs Land on TIME’s Best Inventions of 2018

Tom Burden invented flexible, non-slip tool mat Grymat to solve a problem he commonly experience as an F16 mechanic in the Air Force. Sliding tools be gone with the gravity-defying mat that comes in three sizes. The product gained traction after a successful deal on Shark Tank, leading to discoveries of uses outside the industry, from jewelry makers to surgeons.
There’s a new option when it comes to applying makeup. Replacing a multitude of brushes and the messiness of fingers, the Yubi Buff and Blend set offers an ergonomically designed make up tool with switchable heads – one to buff and one to blend. Lawyer, mom and now, inventor, Adiya Dixon Wiggins designed the tool for an easier, simpler way to apply makeup.

sparkspace Adds New Room
sparkspace has its very own Hideout. That’s the name of the creative meeting space provider’s newest room. Its largest yet, the 1,800 square-foot space offers seating for 50.
The Hideout features floor-to-ceiling windows, a 50-foot blank wall for posting ideas and presentations, and a 75″ smart TV. The room is not attached to the main space, earning its name, but offers all of the same amenities sparkspace is know for like easy booking, no hidden fees and local catering options.

TENFOLD On the Move
Award-winning strategy and creative firm TENFOLD is trading Downtown for Short North. The growing company is headed for new mixed-use development Hubbard Park Place at 797 Wall St.
TENFOLD will occupy 4,500 square feet of the development’s 12,000 square feet of office space. The new office, which is slated to be ready in February, will feature two distinct work spaces – a design studio and a collaboration studio. With a current team of 14, the new office has room for the company to double.

Planthropy Launches New Product Line
Planthropy has been all about bringing a little bit of the outdoors in, but a new product line will appeal to the non-green thumbed.
Since its launch in 2015, Planthropy has been focused on succulents, but expansions have taken shades of green into a new realm including moss walls, living walls and creative interior plantscaping. Now the company will launch a new product line with its Nature Frames. The unique wall pieces are smaller-scale versions of the company’s larger pieces. Made from preserved premium mosses and other natural elements, the frames require zero maintenance.
