    Goldman Sachs Brings 10,000 Small Businesses Program to Columbus

    Goldman Sachs is expanding its 10,000 Small Businesses Program statewide. Working with business owners in Cleveland since 2012, the program will be presented in Columbus in partnership with Columbus State Community College.

    Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses training program aims to help business owners create jobs and economic opportunity by providing access to education, capital and business support services at no cost to its participants. The program pairs 11 learning sessions with independent activities like completing assignments, attending networking events and business support clinics.

    Participants will be expected to create a business growth plan, while also learning insights like how to access capital to increase opportunities for growth.

    To be eligible for the program, business owners should meet the following criteria:

    • Small business owner or small business co-owner
    • Business in operation for at least two years
    • Business revenues over $150,000 in the most recent fiscal year
    • Business with a minimum of four employees (including the owner)

    Social Enterprises Selected for SEA Change Accelerator

    A new cohort of 14 socially-conscious businesses has been selected for the fourth round of the SEA Change Accelerator. The 14-week program offers hands-on advice and training from industry experts to help social enterprises build and develop their business models.

    The 2019 cohort includes:

    Social enterprises that have participated in the SEA Change program have gone on to create over 130 jobs, and recorded revenues of $2.3 million in 2018.

    The SEA Change accelerator wraps up with a pitch day to be held in mid-September.

    Nominations Open for 2019 VentureOhio Awards

    Nominations are open through July 5 for the annual VentureOhio Awards. The awards recognize companies, organizations, and individuals in three categories:

    • Startup of the Year – Honoring companies in Seed/Startup Stage, Early Stage and Growth Stage
    • Entrepreneur of the Year – Recognizing the leader of a venture-backed company in Ohio who has demonstrated effective leadership, innovative spirit, social commitment, strategic direction and personal responsibility
    • Startup Community Catalyst of the Year – Celebrating an individual who has dedicated significant time and resources to growing the Ohio entrepreneurial ecosystem

    A panel of distinguished judges involved in venture across the state will select the winners. The judges will also help develop The Watchlist – a list of the 50 most promising companies in the state.

    The awards will be presented at the annual VentureOhio Dinner, slated for Thursday, September 5 at the Hilton Columbus Downtown.

    Cova at Gravity Pre-Leasing Ahead of Late Summer Opening

    As Cova Cowork gears up for the late summer opening of its second location in Franklinton at Gravity, the coworking space is offering presale leases.
