    SEA Change Pitch Competition Slated for August 23

    Fifteen local social enterprises will make their debut tomorrow at the SEA Change Pitch Competition that’s a culmination to the 13-week SEA Change Accelerator. The top SEA Change finalists will take the stage at the Columbus Metropolitan Library to pitch for up to $100,000 in cash and resources.

    The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with an interactive showcase featuring all 15 of the social enterprise companies. At 6:30 p.m., the pitch competition begins, which will include real-time voting for a crowd favorite pitch.

    Passion Purpose Profit Returns September 22

    Passion Purpose Profit returns for its third year on September 22 at the Columbus Dream Center from 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Organized by CleanTurn Enterprises, the day-long event is focused on educating and empowering business on how to be an effective “fair chance” employer.

    The day’s sessions will focus on topics like Dispelling the Myths, Dismantling the Fears and Discerning the Talent when it comes to employing men and women impacted by homelessness, incarceration, addiction, human trafficking and domestic violence.

    Women’s Small Business Accelerator Welcomes New Executive Director

    Erika Gable is now at the helm of the Women’s Small Business Accelerator. Founded in 2012, the organization was established to help women achieve their dream of business ownership through empathy, mentoring and education. The new director brings 17 years of experience with non-profits and social enterprises, and an MBA and MPA from The Ohio State University in Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy, Strategy, and Enterprise Sustainability.

    Kentucky’s Largest Ad Agency Acquires Majority Stake in CivitasNow

    Louisville-based full-service omnichannel marketing services provider Scoppechio acquired a majority stake in Columbus-based experiential marketing company CivitasNow earlier this month.

    After working together on several initiatives, “We realized that our independent cultures were compatible, and that our combined talent and resources can fuel mutual growth,” says CivitasNow CEO Jacob Taylor. “The Scoppechio team believes in the work we’re doing, thinks experientially, and moves at the quick pace to which we are accustomed. We are very excited about becoming part of the Scoppechio network.”

    Founded in 1987, $225 million agency Scoppechio works with clients like Yum! Brands, Gold Star Chili, Coney Island and GE Appliances.

    “We look at marketing from paid, owned, earned and experiential dimensions,” says Scoppechio CEO Jerry Preyss. “This move with CivitasNow allows us to add an extraordinary group of talented professionals with unique skill sets to our client portfolio.
