SBA InnovateHER Challenge Accepting Nominations

Does your business offer a product or service that impacts the lives of women and families? Nominations are now being accepted for the Small Business Administration’s InnovateHER Challenge. In its second year, the national competition addresses the changing landscape of today’s workforce.

“As the demands on women and families grow, the need for products and services that address these unique challenges increases,” SBA Information says.

Eligible businesses are judged on three criteria. Products or services must:

  • – Have measurable impact on the lives of women and families (30%)
  • – Have the potential for commercialization (40%)
  • – Fill a need in the marketplace (30%)

The Small Business Development Center is vetting the first round of the competition at a local level. Interested business must submit a business plan (20 pages max) to [email protected] by 5:00 p.m. this Thursday, November 19, 2015.

Four regional semifinalists will be chosen to present at the Ohio SBDC Annual Capital Crash Course, Tuesday, December 1, 2015. The winner of the regional InnovateHER competition will be submitted to the SBA to vie for a spot as one of the 10 national finalists who will pitch in Washington, D.C. in March 2016.

Don’t have a business to submit, but still interested in the crash course on funding? The SBDC will be hosting a free workshop discussing business financing.
