Small business seminar series coming to Columbus

The Ohio Department of Development will offer a series of seminars for entrepreneurs from April through September to strengthen and expand small business ownership throughout the state.

The free seminars, which will be held in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Mansfield, were developed specifically to address the needs of aspiring entrepreneurs. They are sponsored by the Ohio Department of Development’s Office of Business Assistance, the Small Business Development Centers of Ohio, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

“This series of seminars provide Ohio’s small business owners and entrepreneurs with the information they need to create, sustain, and grow their businesses,” says Christiane Schmenk, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “The strength of Ohio’s entrepreneurial and small business community is essential to the overall health of Ohio’s economy. At Development, we are committed to providing these business owners with the resources they need to succeed.”

Representatives from the SBDC of Ohio and the U.S. SBA will give in-depth overviews of programs and services available to assist business owners. The seminars will provide information about establishing a business, operating a business, loan programs, marketing, and procurement opportunities.

The six seminars in Columbus will be held from 9 a.m, to 12 p.m. at the Columbus Urban League at 788 Mt. Vernon Ave. They are scheduled for April 19, May 17, June 21, July 19, Aug. 16, and Sept. 20.

The SBDC of Ohio provide consulting and training assistance to small businesses and emerging entrepreneurs to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity, and improved management. They are supported through a partnership among the ODOD, the U.S. SBA, and several chambers of commerce, colleges and universities, and economic development agencies.
