Square launches full point-of-sale system

Square is stepping up its offerings with a new point-of-sale system that helps brick-and-mortar stores accept payments, track sales, and share item and location information.

The new system, Square Register, is being used by more and more neighborhood merchants thanks to its simple interface, smart analytics, continuous updates, and low processing fees, according to Square.

With Business in a Box for Square Register, merchants can simplify their countertop with a package that includes two credit/debit card readers, an iPad stand, a cash drawer, and an optional receipt printer, which all work wirelessly with Square Register.

Packages start at $299 and can be customized to meet users’ needs. There are no commitments and free returns within 30 days.

In the past, business owners have had to piece together multiple hardware components from various manufacturers, manage contracts and pricing structures, and pay for software licensing and service plans. Now, they can be up and running with Square Register in minutes.

More than 2 million individuals and businesses can now accept credit and debit payments using Square, which is processing more than $8 billion in payments on an annualized basis.
