TechColumbus Rebrands & Re-Focuses on Startups

Tom Walker took over the reigns at TechColumbus over a year ago, implementing a wave of change. TechColumbus is repositioning their focus on entrepreneurs while implementing a rebrand of their own.

“Where can TechColumbus provide the most value on the economic scene?” Walker asked. The answer was in the startup community.

tom-walker“It’s an exciting time to be an entrepreneur in Columbus,” he says.

Refocusing has meant a year of planning, but Walker says they are moving to the implementation stage.

To build a focus on entrepreneurs, TechColumbus has added talent to their team to better support their initiatives, including seed investors and others versed in the startup process. The organization is also partnering with more entrepreneurial groups.

The rebrand has also meant streamlining in other areas and exiting certain business units. TechColumbus has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to take on their membership organization.

To support their refined focus, TechColumbus is raising investment funds with the goal of providing more early-stage capital. A capital campaign will also grow corporate base funding. Walker says the funding will help to reinforce the direction TechColumbus is headed and allow them to bolster their advisory services while adding new services.

The ultimate goal is to make companies stronger through the concept to early-launch stages. The stages where a company is investing and growing and hasn’t yet broke even.

TechColumbus will unveil their new website in the near future. The logo has also gotten a redesign, swapping the red for bright blue and green letters with a design resembling a circuit board.
