Another potential unicorn tops the list of The Metropreneur’s Top Business Success Stories of the year.
In March, Root CEO Alex Timm talked with The Metropreneur about the company’s rapid growth since its launch in 2016. Root also became the first insurance company to offer a discount for self-driving cars.
That month would also mark the first of two major investments for the insurer. Root closed a $51 million Series C round which it planned to use to expand to additional states and invest in technology to improve the customer experience. August brought a $100 million Series D round and $1 billion valuation, with a goal of nationwide coverage in 2019.
Finally, a rapidly growing Root team found a new home, moving its headquarters to 80 on the Commons.
