Friends of the Library announced a call for vendors to partner with them on a business opportunity: running the store located inside of the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library. The Main Library is currently under renovation and is expected to reopen to the public June 25, 2016. Friends of the Library has operatedĀ a store inside the Main Library for a number of years. They admit retail management is not their strong point and have decided to look for outside vendors to lease the space and operate the store.
The leased space consists of 1,235 square feet (19ā x 43ā of retail space and 13.5ā x 31ā of storage/office space.)
Interested vendors will need to allow for some space for the selling of Friends of the Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library logo merchandise, as well as used library materials, and memberships. The sale of food and beverages to be consumed on site is not permitted.

A panel will use the following criteria in evaluating proposals:
ā¢ Products to be offered for sale (30 points)
Alignment between products offered and FOL mission/Library vision.
ā¢ Concession experience/business references
(20 points) Review of resume and results of reference check.
ā¢ Revenue (30 points)
Projected P&L and Marketing Plan review. How much revenue can FOL expect to receive from the merchandise categories it supplies?
ā¢ Ease of doing business (10 points)
Capabilities to report sales in categories requested.
ā¢ Schedule (10 points)
Schedule meets the needs of FOL/Library.
