Forgeworks Brings Coworking and Incubation Space to Franklinton

The re-purposed factory that is 400 West Rich can add coworking and incubation space to its long list of specialties come May. Forge Columbus is expanding with Forgeworks — a 3,900 square-foot space on the second floor to house local innovators. Founder Reese Neader wants to build a place where businesses, nonprofits and government can come together.

The space will feature six office studios, reserved desks with locker space, ample co-working space as well as a conference room, kitchen and more relaxed working areas, all with 24-hour access. Workers can expect to find all the amenities of  normal office like printers, fax machines, meeting space and high-speed Wi-Fi. Partners can also utilize Forgeworks for events.

forge-columbus-logoForgeworks does have one unique twist.

“One of the main tenants of coming here is that it’s a skill share,” says Neader. “Everyone who is a member has to donate x amount of hours per month towards participating in Forge projects or helping each other out.” The space is modeled after other spaces for social innovators found across the country.

Forgeworks will have monthly and daily rates, with different costs for office space, reserved desks and coworking space. And the Franklinton location is a strategic one, according to Neader.

“This is where you can build a better Columbus,” he says, referencing the Idea Foundry and Glass Axis nearby. “This is the beginning of a world-class innovation district.”

Neader says that Franklinton’s unique make-up brings a variety of innovators to the area.

“People are just now coming in — artists, academics, professionals from the non-profit sector, business,” he explains. “And they’re figuring out ways to work together and create value.”
