Fox in the Snow Announces Opening Date for Dublin

The countdown is on for Fox in the Snow in Dublin. The cafe opens its doors at 38 W. Bridge St. on Saturday, September 23 at 8 a.m.

It’s the fourth area location for the popular bakery and coffee shop, joining existing cafes in Italian Village, German Village and New Albany.

Actually, the Old Dublin address was almost location number two. Co-Owner Lauren Culley says she and fellow Co-Owner Jeff Excell actually looked at it seven years ago when they were working on location number two. (That honor went to German Village.) Culley says they never thought they’d get it, but when the opportunity came up again last year, it felt too good to be true.

Not only is the location special because of how long they have been eyeing it, but Culley says they are drawn to older buildings and love renovating something that has an established history and character.

Constructed in the ’60s, the 2,400 square foot building served as a U.S. Post Office from 1965-1982, but was most recently used as a storage facility for a restaurant. While maintaining the historic structure, the interior got the Fox in the Snow spin, bringing a familiar feeling that Culley says most closely resembles the Italian Village location.

Dublin has been eager to get its own Fox in the Snow. Culley says they get requests to come to a lot of neighborhoods, but Dublin has been the most requested for years. And they’re excited to establish a presence on the northwest side of town.

As the interior will feel familiar, so will the menu. Customers can expect the full lineup on opening day – the famed egg sandwich, the storied cinnamon rolls, banana bread, coffee cake, biscuits with jam, cookies and more. Two sandwiches will be available – a ham baguette and a tomato pesto baguette.

To wash it all down, there’s coffee and espresso drinks, tea, chai and more.

Fox in the Snow will swap in some seasonal items sometime in October. A couple of new pastries could also make an appearance on the menu. Culley says they have some things in mind, but they need to make it through the opening first.

What the menu won’t include is a more robust lineup of sandwiches from Icarus. When the sandwich shop announced its closure to the public earlier this year, the owners shared that they planned to offer some items at Fox in the Snow to provide more lunch options. Culley says they did offer those sandwiches for a time, but the response wasn’t as overwhelming as they thought. With the labor-intensive process and lower demand, Culley says they went back to what people seemed to want – more breakfast and brunch items.

With location number four in the books, could there be a location number five? Yes. Culley says they are actively looking for their next location. With so many great neighborhoods they could go into, it’s really a waiting game to find the right location, the right building and what feels like the next logical transition.

Culley reflects on the continued demand for more cafes and says they’re grateful for the support. That people want a Fox and the Snow in their neighborhood is one of the best parts of owning the shop.

    Fox in the Snow Dublin will be open weekdays from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
