After operating successfully as a pop-up shop a few times, Simply Rolled Ice Cream is ready to make it permanent. The dessert business will soon be operating from a space within the Short North’s Oats & Barley Market after a recent business acquisition by the grocery owner.
“We have had the honor of hosting several Simply Rolled events at the market over the past six months, and we love the energy it brings,” stated Co-Owner and Manager Shannon Sano. “We think it’s a unique and fun product that brings with it a strong community feel, which is something we’ve always embraced. As a concept that is being established on both coasts, being the first to bring it into Ohio is something that feeds our entrepreneurial spirit.”
While the menu has not yet been finalized, Simply Rolled will likely feature staple flavors like cocoa, vanilla and green tea, and will add additional flavors as specials throughout the year.
Oats & Barley launched at 970 North High Street last August, bringing the boutique grocer concept to a neighborhood hungry for more shopping options. Once the Short North location for Simply Rolled is up and running sometime in the next several weeks, Sano has plans to take the concept to a wider audience very quickly.
“We also have a few other locations in the works for the Central Ohio area,” she stated. “We plan to open these additional locations within the year. ”
