Columbus-based Webbed Marketing is offering a three-part webinar series focused on search engine optimization, social media, and online public relations that begins this week.
The series −Webbed Marketing University’s summer session− is intended to help professionals gain a better understanding of online marketing and how it will help their business. It is designed to be beneficial for professionals who are new to social media or SEO, as well as those who already have a grasp and just need strategic direction.
“Webbed Marketing University focuses on ‘teaching, not telling,’ so all of the webinars will be catered around the interests and needs of the attendees,” says Courtney Cooper, online PR specialist at Webbed Marketing. “For example, the first session is on SEO, and the experts hosting that session have considered each of the registrants and their business when preparing their presentation.
“The webinar will be highly interactive, encouraging participants to ask questions. There will be time at the end of the webinar to address the questions that came through during the session. All questions will be recorded and answered, so if the hosts are not able to answer all the questions during their session, a document will be sent to all attendees post-webinar, which will include every question that was asked, and the answer.”
Attendees will also be given homework assignments for WMU. For example, the SEO assignment will give attendees the opportunity do what they learned during the webinar. The homework will be evaluated and attendees will get feedback about how to improve their SEO.
The 1.5-hour webinars will be held over three months. After each webinar, attendees receive a best practices document and a certificate of completion.
The first session will be led by Ryan Whiteside, Webbed Marketing’s SEO specialist, and Tommy Redmond, Webbed Marketing’s SEO strategy lead. It is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The second session will discuss the latest trends and updates in Facebook, and how businesses can use them. Rebecca Roebuck, Webbed Marketing’s social media strategy lead, will teach that webinar, which is scheduled for Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.
The final webinar in the series will cover online public relations and social media, focusing on the latest trends and tools for social media and online public relations best-practices. Cooper will teach that webinar, which is scheduled for Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.
“WMU was started in 2009, but it was formatted more like a classroom experience, where people would come in to the office and take courses,” Cooper says. “Because these classes are best for small business owners, marketing/communication/PR professionals, and anyone who wants to improve their skills in online marketing, we recognized that taking two or three hours out of your day is not realistic.”
Cooper says those who are unsure about taking a webinar should focus on how convenient they are.
“If you are in the office, working from home, etc., you can log in to the webinar,” she says. “The experts hosting each webinar are used to working virtually and will be encouraging questions throughout the session, as well as addressing all questions at the end of the webinar.”
Additionally, attendees will be given notes to use during each webinar.
“This is a great way for them to follow along through the webinar and keep track of the key takeaways,” she says.
The cost for all three webinars is $499. If purchased individually, the webinars cost $199. TechColumbus members receive a 25 percent discount on the series.
