Zoom Room Columbus opens in Short North

An indoor dog training center opens its doors tomorrow at 685 N. High St. in the Short North.

At Zoom Room Columbus, owners can take their canines through everything from agility and obedience training to puppy preschool. Other offerings include training for therapy dogs and shy dog training for rescue dogs. (Group and private classes are available.)

Zoom Room also sells a variety of pet products, including training gear, all-natural treats, eco-friendly toys and puzzles, and handcrafted leather leashes.

Further, Zoom Room serves as an event center for dog birthday parties, breed meet-ups, and charitable fundraisers.

On opening day, dogs and their owners can participate in a full day of activities, including free agility courses for guests who RSVP. The grand opening event is free, but guests are encouraged to bring donations for a toy and food drive.

“People in Columbus love their dogs and they’re going to love Zoom Room,” says Becky Berger, owner of Zoom Room Columbus. “There’s really no other place like Zoom Room that offers indoor recreation developed by experts. Our grand opening event is a great opportunity to see our facility, and help Pets Without Parents and its mission to find forever homes for animals.”

A Doggy Disco party is slated for 5 to 8 p.m., with complimentary food and drinks for people and doggy donuts for their four-legged friends.

The party will serve as a fundraiser for local animal shelter Pets Without Parents. Zoom Room Columbus will donate $10 to the shelter for every person who RSVPs in advance.

Additionally, Pets Without Parents will host a pet adoption that evening at Zoom Room to find forever homes for dogs.

The original Zoom Room opened in Culver City, Calif. in 2007 and was founded by Los Angeles dog training expert Jaime Van Wye. Zoom Room claims to be the fastest-growing pet franchise in the United States.

To date, the 4,450-square-foot Columbus center is the sole Zoom Room location in Ohio.
